Guitar Lessons: Guitar Tablature

Buying a guitar - Part 2

Regarding guitar tablature, once you find a guitar builder that you trust, you should look at what options you want. Each guitar builder has his or her own ideas about what a guitar should sound like and how it should respond to guitar tablature. You should be aware of what each builder offers as options and what they will not customize for you. Scale length for instance, is usually something a guitar builder will allow you to specify to some extent. This allows the player greater latitude in exercising specific guitar notes.

Other options like neck width and shape, materials used and the finish you want should all be taken into account before you decide on a particular guitar. Learning guitar tablature on a guitar that doesn't feel right doesn't make the tablature any easier to learn. Find out what options you want first and then find the particular guitar that meets those needs.
